Bayer scholarships for schoolchildren

With the Bayer scholarships for school students, the foundation supports students who show special commitment. The scholarships enable the students to participate in selected summer camps and programs for school students in the natural sciences. To achieve this, the foundation works closely with accredited educational establishments in Europe, the Asia/Pacific region and America.

In 2008, as part of the Bayer Climate Program, the Bayer Science & Education Foundation has awarded five scholarships to school students in particular fields. With the aid of a Bayer scholarship for school students, five young people traveled to Pittsburgh, USA, to take part in a two-week science camp. For two weeks, the so-called "Bayer Climate Fellows", together with five young Americans, were engaged with the topics of climate change, climate protection and sustainability.

All 2008 regional winners of  the youth research competition "Jugend forscht" were invited to apply, as were children of Bayer employees who could demonstrate commitment to protecting the climate and environment. The international science camp was organized by the non-profit organization RiverQuest based in Pittsburgh. RiverQuest has already received multiple awards for its education programs and has been collaborating with the Bayer USA Foundation Bayer USA Foundation for a number of years.
