Passing the torch to the next generation is the only way to sustain success in science and society. That is why the Bayer Science & Education Foundation places a strong focus on promoting and developing young talents.
The work of the Bayer Foundations is coordinated by a team of experienced employees. Under the leadership of Thimo Valentin Schmitt-Lord, the team manages all foundation activities in close dialogue with the Group and external experts.
Thimo V. Schmitt-Lord, MBE Impact investor, Innovation Enthusiast, CEO at Bayer Foundations
Hey there, I am responsible for the non-profit giving of Bayer and Bayer foundations in the world. Our foundation programs operate like a seed fund for frontier scientists and impact pioneers – with special interest in life science, agronomy, medicine and social innovation. Personally, I am passionate about the creation of societal impact by applying purpose-driven tech innovations to the world’s biggest challenges. I see my key role in the transformation of business excellence into the non-profit sector and in the connection of frontier innovators to power, knowledge and funding. My favorite quote: “if you want to be a startup billionaire, you just have to solve a billion peoples’ problem”. Let’s create #SocialFiction together!
